SINTlife is a synthetic, fully resorbable bone graft supplied as a mouldable putty in pre-filled syringes. It is made from nano-crystals of hydroxyapatite in which magnesium ions replace some of the calcium, reproducing the composition of the mineral phase of human bone.
Magnesium-substituted hydroxyapatite
The magnesium makes the crystal structure less stable and more biologically active, which encourages cell-mediated resorption, new bone formation and remodelling. Its surface interacts readily with water, helping it capture the proteins involved in bone formation.
Cells remodel and resorb the material over roughly 6 to 18 months, so the scaffold stays in place while new bone forms and matures.
Indications
SINTlife is intended for filling bony voids or gaps that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure, and must be used with appropriate stabilising hardware. It is not intended to replace standard procedures for treating bone defects.
It can be combined with autologous bone, blood, bone marrow or growth factors. It is available as SINTlife Spine and SINTlife Ortho, in syringe volumes from 1 cc to 10 cc.
