RemeOs™ Screw COM Product Sheet
ViewRemeOs™ Screw COM is a headless, partially threaded and cannulated absorbable screw. A different thread pitch at each end compresses the fracture or osteotomy as it is inserted.
Absorbable magnesium alloy
The screw is made from an absorbable, osteopromotive alloy of magnesium, calcium and zinc, with no rare earth elements. It promotes bone in-growth and is gradually replaced by bone, absorbing over two to three years, so no removal surgery is needed.
Indications
RemeOs screws are intended for skeletally mature adults in traumatic and orthopaedic surgery: fixation of epi- and metaphyseal fractures and osteotomies, correction of deformities and malalignments in the short bones of the midfoot and hindfoot and the long bones of the upper and lower extremity, and temporary fixation until bony fusion has occurred.
Surgical handling
The screw is self-tapping in cancellous bone, or cancellous bone with a thin cortical layer, and is inserted with a technique similar to conventional metal implants. Bioretec states compression and fixation strength comparable to metal implants. It does not interfere with radiographic imaging and is MR conditional.
