Last week Joint Operations had the pleasure of inviting Year 11 students from local Secondary School Lydiard Park Academy along to JO Headquarters in Wootton Bassett for a fun filled morning of talks and workshops around the healthcare industry.
The morning opened with an introduction from Managing Director Richard Forster followed by HR and Project Manager Beckie Holmes, giving an overview of the day to day workings of the company, with insights into logistics and operations. The organisational skills of the operations team are paramount to the service we deliver to our customers.
Jim Carr (Joint Operations Marketing Manager) explained the roles within sales and marketing and how the two teams work closely together.
We even had the privilege of Laura Asplin a Specialist Clinical Research Physiotherapist from Coventry on hand to talk to us about the many different paths Physiotherapists can take within healthcare. Students were shown how to diagnose Joint Hypermobility Syndrome using the Beighton Score.
The morning was rounded off with a saw bone workshop with the WAVE® pattelofemoral resurfacing implant, where students were involved with the technique and process of how the surgical kit and implants work, this was conducted by the Managing Director himself Richard Forster assisted by the group. One student in particular who assisted Richard carried out the operation extremely well, maybe a career as an orthopaedic surgeon beckons!
A big thank you to Laura Asplin and Lydiard Park Academy.
