The last few months have seen many exciting developments at Joint Operations, a Swindon based medical device distribution business focussing on Joint Preservation, Extremities and Regenerative Medicine.
June saw the 1st birthday celebration of the company’s Swindon Head Quarters. Managing Director, Richard Forster said “On 1st June 2015 we had one room with desks but no phones and another with piles of racking and some hammers but together, through hard graft, ingenuity and good humour the team have built up an operational unit that reliably supports every aspect of a complicated and meaningful business.”
Fast forward on a year and Joint Operations has robust systems in place for stock, packaging, quality control, couriers and accounts. Over the latter half of the year they have also obtained ISO 9001 accreditation, a Human Tissue License and most recently, -90C freezer capacity in Swindon. In this relatively short space of time, the company has fully established itself in the area and has established impressive growth.
Mr Forster went on to say “We are proud of our decision to base ourselves in Swindon and to be helping the local economy and job market. A majority of our dedicated staff have been recruited locally and we are pleased to announce our recent commitment to work alongside Swindon College to support two local young people through their Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeships.”
Joint Operations’ first Apprentice, Lydia Barrance has already made an impressive start and Sam Haydon, the company’s second Apprentice started in the office this week. When asked for feedback Lydia said “It’s exciting to be working in a growing company where there is an opportunity to be involved with such a wide range of admin tasks on a day to day basis.” Asked about the benefits of business Apprenticeships Evelyn Little, Director of Employer Responsiveness and Business First at Swindon College said “Apprenticeships are a great benefit to employers including development of a well-trained-motivated workforce, increased productivity and cost-effective recruitment. This is a fantastic opportunity for these apprentices to gain valuable industry experience and begin their working careers. We are extremely pleased to be working with Joint Operations in delivering the Business Administration qualifications for their new apprentices.” Mr Forster, added “It’s my pleasure to be able to bring in, support and nurture young talent who have a genuine interest in the Medical industry and who are just starting their journey in the working world.”
